If you want to suggest other hints, please let me know and I'll put them up below.
Slow video response
If you find that the response of the game is too slow for your liking (jerky video, skipped
frames, etc.) then try this: find a high table or stool and place your computer on it (but
make sure it is safe perched there; don't let it fall or this won't work.) Put your screen
on a low chair and sit on the floor in front of it. Check that there are no twists or knots
in the video cable (the lead going straight from the back of the computer into the back of
the screen, with two screws on its connector) as this could impair data throughrate. Try to
get the video cable as straight as possible and let it drop as vertically as your setup will
allow. Hopefully now gravity will be on your side and fewer frames will be skipped. (NB: This
suggested solution relies on the highly debated theory that data flows faster downhill. Thanks
to Tom for this one.)
Homeworld quits to desktop when changing video settings
If you get this error, try the switch "/nofastFE" that disables fast front end rendering.
(Thanks to FreaKed for this one.)
Skip startup movies
You can make Homeworld skip the Sierra movie and the Relic movie by using the "/disableAVI"
switch.
(Thanks to UberJumper for this one.)
Quickest game possible
The fastest way to get Homeworld over and done with is to press 'Esc' during the first intro
movie. Then you're presented with your Mothership in front of its scaffolding. Right-click it
and tell it to Retire. Repeat. Watch. Laugh. Quit. You've just played an entire game of
Homeworld from beginning to end.
(That's not the kind of ending I aim for, but thanks anyway to tecnOfObe.)
